Daily living assistance across Newcastle & the Hunter

Altitude Support Services provides practical daily living assistance across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Cessnock and Raymond Terrace. Support is delivered in a way that respects the participant’s choices, abilities, routines and preferred level of independence.

What daily living assistance can include

  • Planning and maintaining everyday routines
  • Meal preparation and household tasks
  • Shopping and practical errands
  • Support to organise activities and appointments
  • Prompts and encouragement with everyday tasks
  • Building confidence with practical skills
  • Assistance to participate more independently in daily life at home and in the community

Support at your pace

The goal is to provide the amount of assistance that is actually useful. For some tasks that may be a prompt or reminder. For others it may mean completing the task together or providing more direct practical help.

Where the participant wants to build greater independence, support can focus on practising routines, making choices and gradually taking a more active role in everyday tasks.

Daily living support at home and in the community

Everyday life does not happen in one place. Daily living support may connect with support at home, community access, shopping, appointments, social activities or skill development, depending on the participant’s goals and agreed support arrangement.

Areas we support

Altitude provides daily living assistance across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Maitland and the Lower Hunter, Cessnock and the Hunter Valley, and Raymond Terrace, subject to current worker capacity and the support requested.

How support is arranged

We start by discussing the participant’s routine, goals, the tasks they want help with, preferred days or times and worker preferences. Where we have suitable capacity, we work towards a clear support arrangement and worker match.

Funding

Self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants are welcome. If you are unsure whether a particular daily living support can be funded from your individual plan, your plan manager, support coordinator or the NDIS can help confirm how your funding may be used.
