Getting to an appointment, activity or local event can be part of the support itself. Where transport forms part of an agreed support arrangement, Altitude can help participants plan, travel to and take part in community activities across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Cessnock and Raymond Terrace.
Self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants are welcome.
Transport that supports participation
Our focus is not simply getting from A to B. Support can include planning the outing, preparing what is needed, travelling together, assistance during the activity and support to return home safely and comfortably.

Transport is provided as part of an agreed support arrangement rather than as a standalone taxi or rideshare service. We discuss the destination, timing, expected kilometres and support required before the shift so expectations are clear.
Combine transport with community access
Many participants use transport alongside community access support or social and community participation. The aim is to make the whole activity easier to access and more meaningful, not just the travel component.

Frequently asked questions
Can a support worker stay with me during the activity?
Yes, where that forms part of the agreed support. The worker can provide assistance during the activity as well as with travel.
Can transport be used for appointments and shopping?
Yes. Appointments, shopping and everyday errands are common examples when they form part of the participant’s agreed support.
How are transport arrangements worked out?
We discuss the destination, timing, support needs and any agreed travel arrangements before the shift.
